Thank you to Tim Hinton and Marching Arts Education for having me as a guest on episode 799 of the Marching Roundtable podcast. This episode looked back at the 2019 Winter Guard International Winds World Championships which took place in April in Dayton, Ohio.

While I managed to post 10 photos for each of the performing units at this past weekend’s Ohio Indoor Performance Association State Championships on the OIPA Instagram account, there were a ton of photos I took which didn’t make the feed. Fortunately, I’ve uploaded them all to my Smugmug account for you to enjoy!
These photos are free to view and share. I do ask that you give me photo credit should you post a photo on social media.
Saturday – Color Guard
Sunday – Percussion and Winds
It’s the beginning of the end of the 2019 indoor season. All across the country, indoor color guards, drum lines, and winds groups are gathering for their state and regional association championships. Some are also preparing for the 2019 Winter Guard International championships in just a few weeks. Nevertheless, it’s a bittersweet time as the members of these groups prepare to perform together for the final time this season.
For me, the end begins in Wapakoneta High School in Wapakoneta, Ohio, site of the 2019 Ohio Indoor Performance Association state championships. The championships take place over the weekend of March 30 (color guard) and March 31 (drum line and winds). Hundreds of young performers will spin, dance, and play in front of their family, friends, instructors, and fans while also competing for the chance to be champions in their class.
As I have in the past, I will be providing social media coverage for both days of OIPA championships. Be sure to follow the OIPA social media feeds to see all of the photos I post online. If you’re at the event, make sure you also post your photos and updates using the hashtags #oipa2019 and #oipafinals, as well as tagging OIPA’s social media accounts.
Also, if you’re at the event, be sure to find me so I can take a picture of you and post it on the feed!
Will I see you in Wapakoneta? Let me know in the comments below. Add your performing group if you’ll be on the floor.
After a month and a half, I’m back in the indoor world!
The Ohio Indoor Performance Association will hold it’s 2019 Firestone competitions on Saturday, March 16 and Sunday, March 17 at the Firestone Community Learning Center in Akron, Ohio. With just two weeks remaining in the OIPA season and Winter Guard International championships next month, this will be an excellent opportunity to check out the great colorguard, percussion, and winds groups Ohio has to offer.
I will be attending both events running OIPA’s social media coverage of all performing groups. If you will be at either show, whether you’re a performer, staff member, admin, volunteer, parent, or just a fan, be sure to say hi! I’d love to post a photo of you enjoying the show to OIPA’s Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook accounts. You can also post your own photos with the hashtags #oipafirestone and #oipa2019.

While I posted many photos for WGI on their various social media platforms, I took many more photos and have uploaded them to my SmugMug account. These photos are free for you to check out and share. All I ask is that you give me credit if you share any photos from my collection.
With the cancellation of the OIPA Premiere due to weather, my first indoor marching arts event of the 2019 season becomes the Winter Guard International Troy Indoor Percussion Regional. The Troy regional is one of two percussion regionals taking place during the first weekend of WGI’s 2019 season.
The regional takes place on Saturday, February 9, in the Troy Athens High School gymnasium. The day is split up into a preliminary competition starting at 11 AM and a finals competition starting at 5 PM.
I will be working on the WGI social media team, switching between their Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, and Snapchat accounts. Be sure to subscribe to and follow those accounts on the 9th so you can see my posts! If you’ll be at the Troy regional, be sure to share your photos and comments on social media with the hashtag #wgitroy
Will you be at the Troy regional, either with a performing group or as a fan? Let me know in the comments below!
