The Ohio Indoor Performance Association celebrates their 10th anniversary this year and the party begins on Sunday, January 22nd, at the annual Tour Premier. Come join the fun at Marion Harding High School as 37 scholastic and independent performing groups make their 2017 debut.
The 5th graders had the spotlight on Tuesday. Now, the rest of the Highland Orchestra gets their chance to shine. The 6th, 7th, 8th, and high school orchestras perform Wednesday evening starting at 7PM in the Highland High School auditorium. This also serves as the dress rehearsal for the high school orchestra as they have their first OMEA contest appearance Friday night. The concert is free to the public and is a great chance for people to see and support these young musicians. Hope to see you there!
I have created an event for tomorrow night’s Brass Band of the Western Reserve concert on Facebook. If you haven’t received an invite and would like to go, feel free to hit up Facebook and let me know you’ll be there.
Yesterday, I posted about this Saturday’s Brass Band of the Western Reserve concert in Minerva, Ohio. I have since received the program listing of what we’re playing, which I now pass on to you. Continue reading Brass Band of the Western Reserve Minerva Concert Program
Last night, I performed with the Brass Band of the Western Reserve for the first time. I had just joined the band the previous Tuesday and had only rehearsed with the group twice, including the dress rehearsal the night before, so it’s been a crash course in brass band performance. I have to say, though, that this is the most excitement and challenge I’ve had playing music since I marched drum corps, and I am already looking forward to the next concert this Saturday in Minerva, Ohio. Medina may be holding it’s Fourth of July fireworks extravaganza on the day before Independence Day, but the fireworks continue with the Medina Community Band’s Summer Concert on the Square, which begins at 8:30 PM on the 4th. This concert is normally on Friday night so don’t go to the square the night of the 1st as we will not be there. Actually, DO go to the square on the 1st and support the great businesses in Medina which make it possible to have these concerts and all the other great activities which take place in the square throughout the year. As always, Medina Community Band concerts are free. Just bring your own lawn chair and/or beach towel to sit on and enjoy the show. If you plan on attending, you can RSVP on the concert’s Facebook event page here.
The 2011 summer season for the Medina Community Band began with their first Friday night concert in Medina’s Public Square Gazebo back on the 3rd. The concert was a great success. This Friday, the 17th, will once again feature the Medina Community Band in the Gazebo, and I will be playing in the euphonium section. The concert is free, starts at 8:30PM, and lasts for about an hour. If you enjoy classical music, marches, opera, show tunes, or all of the above, bring some lawn chairs or a beach towel to sit on and enjoy the show!
This Tuesday evening, my wife Rachel will present her Highland High School Orchestra in concert along with the Highland High School band programs. The concert begins at 7PM. assuming Snowpocalylse 2010 Part 2 doesn’t cancel a concert for the second Tuesday in a row, you can check it out at the Highland High School Auditorium, 4150 Ridge Road, Medina, OH 44256.
I hope to see you there!
